The boys are growing like weeds and I haven't been posting updates about them nearly enough. Kalven J started school on August 13th (Friday the 13th). I'd been hoping that the start date wasn't foreshadowing of how the year would go, and so far, it hasn't been. Kalven J is genuinely excited to go to school every day and I just received a really positive email from his teacher this week as well. He is reading on a high level and has responded really well to the structure in his classroom. He has been looking forward to bird hunting with his daddy for weeks, so Kalven took him dove hunting this morning. He had a blast and was worn slick! He is the sweetest big brother ever! He dotes on both of his little brothers and is almost always incredibly patient with them.
After hunting today
First day of school
As you may be able to tell, Kalven J recieved a fancy new haircut after the first day of school. For several days after the cut he told us it felt weird, but now he's pretty happy with it. I think he looks very handsome!
Reid is using more and more new words every day. Today I asked him to quit playing in the dog food and close the cabinet. He replied "I feed Ellie!" Sure enough, he went straight to her bowl and gave her a scoop of food. His favorite word is "no", of course, followed by "board" as a close second. He loves to skateboard. There is only one question he answers with "yes" or "uh huh" without fail and that is when I ask him if he's going to starve to death. He's always hungry (or at least thinks he is). He likes healthy food like yogurt, cottage cheese and GrandNan's applesauce, but if given an opportunity to sneak away with a treat, he's all over it. We're working on potty training, but I can't say that we've seen any real progress lately. He loves wearing his "unnies", as he calls them, but could really care less if they're wet or dry. He knows all the right words and seems to recognize when he's got to go, so we're just waiting for him to decide he WANTS to go on the potty. I could just go on and on because he's changing so much these days.
Look at those brown eyes and squishy cheeks! Ahhh!
Levi is almost 4 months old now and it seems like time is just flying by us. I can see him growing every day and know it will be no time before he's trying (and succeeding) to keep up with the big boys. I better get all the snuggles I can before he's to busy to let me snuggle him. He thinks it's funny when we laugh and laughs with us. His laugh is infectious and gets everybody giggling with him. Reid blows on Levi's belly every chance he gets and Levi thinks that's pretty funny too. He discovered his hands and feet in the past couple weeks, so there's lots of fist sucking and major drooling going on. He sleeps through the night and is getting better about taking naps in his crib or bassinet. He's definitely not a fan of being in the car seat these days, and only tolerates the stroller when it's in motion. Thank goodness we love using our slings and Ergo!
Holy cow I love to kiss those sweet baby cheeks, hands and neck! And yes, as you can see in these pictures, Levi is finally losing all of that lovely dark hair. Sad! Maybe I kissed it all off.
I've been trying to get a picture of the little boys in their matching outfits, and it's been quite the undertaking.
Take One!
Take Two!
The common theme is that Reid tries to get away and makes Levi cry in the process.
The Solution!
Nobody's running away now! Ha!
And finally, for your amusement, I'll leave you with afroman.
